Mac 570 Special
Mac Boats custom built Mac 570 Single Centre console's for Glacier Explorers Boat Cruises www.glacierexplorers.co.nz who are based at The Hermitage Mt Cook New Zealand. These boats have been operating over the years in the extreme conditions where a tough, low maintenance boat is required to perform in a very harsh enviroment. The temperature does not affect the boats and the hulls are not frozen to the touch like an aluminium boat would be. Due to the way these boats have performed and stood the test of time in a commercial enviroment we were asked to come up with a boat which could accommodate new requirements and increase Glacier Explorers business. Garth Galloway and his team at Mac Boats took up the challenge and produced the first New Mac last year. Glacier Explorers were so impressed with the performance they commissioned another boat. Glacier Explorers are now running two of the 9 seater boats and two of the latest NEW Mac 570 boats which carry 16 people made up of 16 passengers in individual seats plus the skipper positioned at the console at the front of the boat. These boats are certainly state-of-the-art and are virtually indestructible and were the first choice for Glacier Explorers in safety and durability. These boats are impervious to osmosis and corrosion, designed to survive New Zealands extreme UV level and have a low enviromental impact because the polyethylene is fully recyclable and colourfast.

Mac boats help us to achieve our goals of operational efficiency, increasing passenger numbers and reducing our environmental footprint*
*The new boats emit less noise which is an important consideration for us operating in a National Park and UNESCO World Heritage Area. Our fuel costs have decreased and fuel per passenger has halved since we introduced our new boats and four stroke engines.

The reasons I choose the Mac boat for my wildlife film productions in
Another reason for choosing the Mac boat is the design, the pontoon style boat is basically unsinkable, this is most important to me and my film crew, especially when we consider we have to visit off shore islands many miles from a safe port to film the marine animals we need to encounter.
Over the last few months we have had the opportunity to really put the Mac boat through its paces, the first thing we noticed was the massive work space the Fisherman offers, work space is so important when we have to load boxes and boxes of camera gear and dive equipment for every film expedition.
Another issue about the Mac boat that I am more than impressed with is the dry cockpit, unlike some shark cat boats and many half cabin boats I have been in over the years, the Mac boats do not suck spray back into the cabin, thus filming is not a problem, my crew remains perfectly dry and no exhaust fumes from the outboard are sucked into the cabin to make us sick.
I wish to also mention how easy the Mac boat is to launch, because we often have to launch boats in some of the most difficult situations, we have found in all cases we simply only have to drive the Mac on and off the trailer, this is achieved because the plastic boats are far lighter than glass and the pontoon style hull allows very easy launching.
With my long career as a wildlife film maker, we have used many different style boats over the last 35 years, I can safely state that for safety, durability, function and ride the Mac Fisherman is the best boat I have ever had the pleasure to take to sea. I know I will be using my Mac boat for many years to come!!!
Mac 360 Tiller Steer
This Mac 360 purchased from Marine Revolution in the UK is used to ferry steel, welding plant and a host of equipment from the shore to a large work boat. When not being used as a work boat it is used as a tender.
Customers Comments............
Since buying the Mac 360 it has been used every weekend mainly for moving sheet steel & equipment to my workboat on which I am building a new wheelhouse. It has made things easier & safer due to its amazing stability, generous internal beam & freeboard. The Mac 360 is light enough to launch & recover single handed but can handle a good load for its size, 4 adults on one occassion & 2 8x4 sheets of 3mm plate steel weighing over 150 kgs with no problems.
My previous boats a 4m RIB & a 3m fibreglass tender could manage some tasks but not the variety the Mac 360 has.
This little boat has done everything I have asked it to do, whether it be shift heavy loads or a family picnic, it looks as if it should give years of hassle & maintenance free service due to its tough construction...

The Boat has been received and put into service. The barge said the boat was well packed and was very easy to assemble. They were very satisfied with the way the boat was set up and the barge crew can often be a hard group to please.

Things are going well here in
9.5.06 The boat worked great and made several tasks go much easier than any of us could have expected. We even used the boat to save a sea turtle from a stray fishing net. Man was that one happy turtle. He owes his life to the Mac 570.
Thanks

Mike’s comments as to why he picked Mac 570 over other competition……..
The Mac 570 was practical and gave him peace of mind as he feels safe. The Mac can take a knock or two without any damage other than a bit of a scuff mark. No second thoughts about beaching this boat when necessary other than looking after the propeller. Having owned GPR boats previously, it doesn’t take much of a knock, particularly when mooring alongside in adverse wave and wind conditions, to crack or split a GPR boat even with fenders but not so with the Mac polyethylene boat. Shock absorption is great – the material flexes without cracking or splitting (witness the manufacturer’s results with shotgun blast testing) and it won’t suffer from osmosis, corrode, rust, or rot. After all, polyethylene is tough, virtually unbreakable and durable.
You can fill it with water and it still floats, thanks not only to the natural buoyancy of polyethylene, but also the inherent rib-style built-in air tanks, together with some built-in additional foam injected buoyancy.
Lack of Maintenance / low cost of ownership
When you come to take your boat out of the water at the end of the fishing season, there’s no marine growth at all, just a 3” scum mark which quickly brush washes off in clean water, and that’s it – no need for antifouling coatings. No keel bands to replace or screw down, no cracks in the gelcoat to worry about, but if you’re really boat proud – it’s out with the hairdryer for 20 minutes to go over and smooth out any scuff marks or scratches. Total simplicity.
CE rated for 9, I have 2 helmsman seats, together with additional bench seating at the stern to seat another four people if necessary, with plenty of room still for dogs, fishing rods or wildfowling decoys. The shallow draft is generally much less than many other boats of this size, which enables easy access to shore and into reedbeds for shooting purposes.
Clear open deck, flat & stable platform, both for shooting and moving around.
With around six foot square of totally clear space behind the helm seats that is flat provides both an excellent shooting platform and room to move about comfortably and safely, or indeed somewhere to put down the sleeping bags for a night afloat under the stars.
Handling in water
Dry Boat with plenty of storage
With a cuddy upfront to soak up the spray off the waves keeping you nice and dry, its also usefully acts as a windbreak to keep the chill from any wind. Storage is available both in the forward cuddy area, as well as a helmsman’s glove box and a very useful aluminum locker forming part of the outboard engine mounting, that takes safety flares and fishing boxes or shotgun cartridge bags.
Light to launch / recover and easy to tow
It’s an ideal trail boat – even at nearly 20’ and having a wide beam, it actually seams very light and easy to launch and recover.
A wide range of colours are available, or those nice guys in Dundee and
Mac 370 Clinker Dinghy
The Leam Boat Centre, in Leamingtom Spa, required a traditional clinker style boat to hire but wanted to move away from the maintenance intensive wood or GPR boats.
The Mac 370 is perfect for this application and has proven its worth in the hire fleet.
Mac 420 Tiller Steer
This Mac 420 Tiller Steer was purchased in 2005 as a replacement for an inflatable. Due to the extreme nature of the application, deep in the southern ocean around the Falkland Islands, J & A Gardner Shipping required a tough, low maintenance and cost effective craft that could stand up to a lot of abuse!!

We only had one rescue boat which was a 4.3 Niad and we needed something that would be useful and long lasting. I was very impressed with the Mac 600 looking at the big picture of our role in the community rescuing Animals instead of being restricted with the small boat. The Mac 600 has given us capabilities to use it in the bay when required as well as in rivers and swollen creeks. The RSPCA Queensland is now the leading Animal agency in Disaster Response and is an excellent reason for having the Mac Boats working in flood zones.
A perfect example is we had a call out to some horses trapped in a swift running swollen creek so wee put the Mac 600 in and proceeded to the horse and managed to put the horse up to the side of the boat in a sling I had made for the boat. We moved the horses over to dry land. I had a call that the water was reseeding and still got the Mac 600 back to our starting point in 0.02 metres of water. The Mac 600 has also been seen on the RSPCA Animal Rescue programme in regards to a cow stuck in mud. The programme went to 1.3 million viewers across
That is why I choose the Mac 4.2 as a smaller rescue boat as it will be ideal in flooded areas with the semi flat stern which will give the boat more stability. My greatest wish is to have the RSPCA in
